Just Like After 9-11, Town of Gander Shows Up to Help Stranded Airline Passengers During Ice Storm

Just as it did in the aftermath of 9/11, the town of Gander once again opened its arms to help stranded airline passengers—this time during a severe ice storm. When flights were grounded and travelers were left uncertain, residents stepped in with food, shelter, and reassurance. Schools, community centres, and homes became safe havens for people far from home. The response was swift, generous, and instinctive—kindness in action when it mattered most. Gander reminded the world what community truly means.
